Facing the horizon

I stand where the earth meets the sky,
Where dusk kisses the waves goodbye,
I am a silent, firm figure, with a high forehead,
Looking at the sun after each fall.

The wind blows stories of water,
I have been echoes of battles carved into my skin,
however, I do not waver; I do not break,
Because I have learned the meaning of awakening.

With eagle wings I stretch, I rise,
Above the past that caged me one day,
I feel like the rain, and I get up at dawn,
Always strong, fierce as a lioness.

Every scar screams, every wound is a guide,
I'm carving the road where my dreams reside,
I don't seek to be seen, or known,
But in my words my soul makes itself known.

An indomitable heart,
a free spirit,
facing the horizon
is where I meant to be.
